The North Pole
A 3D short film about the North Pole itself, and how we know. Lines of longitude meet on floating sea ice, and every direction is south. Stand on the ice as the sun circles the sky at one height, then watch the real stars circle Polaris in the polar night. The ocean is cut open through the pole to show the ice, the water layers, and the real sea floor. The film follows the drifting ice and the ships frozen into it, the magnetic north pole on its real path toward Siberia, and the first airship, submarine, and icebreaker at the pole. It ends with the September sea ice in 1979, 2012, and 2026. Personal, creator, and public display licenses. From $25.
